FriendsWell, this week has been a rough week for me with friends. I have two friends, both of which do not have very long to live. One of them her kidneys have quit working this past weekend but the hospital cannot figure out why. She is now having dialysis every day. I hope they can figure out what the problem is and get it worked out, but she sure doesn't look good at all.
And I have another friend who just had a brain tumor removed. Although the tumor was not cancerous, it is growing like an octopus with tentacles and they were only able to remove part of it. They found the brain tumer when he went in to see the doctor about his throat. He has throat cancer, stomach cancer, cancer is also in his lymph nodes. About the only place they did not find cancer was in his bone marrow. So, he is doing chemo right now and will start radiation once chemo is over. Because of the brain tumor he has started having seizures and he can no longer work, drive a car, or even be at his home by himself. It is really really sad.
I just wish there were something I could do for people when things like this happen. I always feel badly for them.

You know just being there with them, stopping by and leaving little notes always helps.
Of course you can't be there 24/7 or even close to it, but stopping by and just saying hi helps.
They know you're thinking of them.
They are in my prayers, as are you!

citygirl, i recently read an article which stated that sometimes a direct approach is best. stating something like "i will be available on wednesday evening and would like to help. may i bring you ..... or may i help you with ..."
perhaps there is something you can think of that they would like or appreciate.
if all else fails, prayer is always good. they are on my list also.
i know how hard it is to watch someone you love degenerate. take care of yourself as you work to be there for them.
